After years of research and development, we’re thrilled to be announcing our partnership with the sustainable home care and detergent makers - MACK. Together we’re announcing Notpla’s first commercial application of our award-winning Film material, designed to bring about a true transformation in sustainability at home for thousands of people.

Embracing Authentic Sustainable Innovation with MACK

In our homes we’ve long relied on the convenient laundry and dishwasher pods cloaked in a water-soluble material - the problem is, this is a material that few of us understand and have even been lead to believe is plastic-free. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is the name of this synthetic plastic polymerand, sadly, it’s anything but the ‘eco solution’ that it’s claimed to be. A recent study shows that 76% of the annual 17,200 metric tons of PVA from these pods in the USA alone contributes to plastic pollution. The call for radical transformation has been amplified by the potential for bioaccumulation of PVA in nature and even inside our bodies.

Our innovative solution, the Notpla Film sachets for homeware and laundry products, shatters the limitations of PLA, dissolving completely in water and naturally biodegrading, leaving no microplastics behind.

Recognised as one of the Grand Prize winners of the Tom Ford Plastic Innovation Prize earlier this year for our Film development, we’re delighted to have combined this accolade with a consumer-ready solution to tackle plastic pollution created in our homes. Unsatisfied with traditional methods to determine something as being truly plastic free, our material underwent an exhaustive nine-month biological degradability assessment, far surpassing industry-standard tests, even ending up in a simulated whale's gut at the Seattle aquarium!

Redefining Homecare Products

As we merge Notpla innovation and technology with MACK's sustainable, high-perfming cleaning products, we hope to empower consumers to make easy choices to reduce the plastic pollution that harms our planet. With each load of laundry or dishes, we’ll not only achieve a great quality clean, but also help to address the plastic problem.

Anthony McCourt, Co-Founder at MACK, echoes our united purpose:

"Our partnership with Notpla aligns perfectly with our mission to provide customers with a truly sustainable, eco-friendly cleaning solution that leaves zero legacy on the planet for future generations.. We believe that sustainable packaging is not just an option, but a responsibility that we owe to our planet and communities. Together with Notpla, we are determined to make a significant difference in reducing plastic waste and promoting a circular economy."

Our co-Founder and Co-CEO, Pierre Paslier, added:

"We are thrilled to collaborate with MACK, a company that shares our passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility. Our mission is to create innovative, plant-based solutions that challenge the status quo and redefine the future of packaging. Together, we are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and regenerative packaging ecosystem within the cleaning industry’’.

Step into a cleaner future with us and play your part in addressing the plastic problem without sacrificing the convenience you’re used to.  We’re so happy to have you with us on this tangible step towards a healthier planet by joining the Notpla x MACK collaboration.

Notpla vs. Plastic
Plastic pollution has reached pandemic proportions, posing a severe threat to the health of our planet. Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic waste contaminate our oceans, rivers, lakes, and ecosystems, jeopardizing marine life and disrupting delicate ecological balances. The statistics are alarming – projections indicate that plastic pollution could more than double by 2030 if decisive action isn't taken now to reduce plastic use and improve waste management practices globally.

Enjoying ice cream is one of life's simple pleasures. But let's be honest, the plastic spoons that often come with it can leave a bad taste in your mouth.
